The Making Valuable Progress (MVP) program at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital is composed of an interdisciplinary team of therapists (PT, OT, Speech, and Psychologist), and a medical physician who addresses developmental needs of post NICU infants. The intent of this clinic is to identify, evaluate, and monitor all of your child’s medical, psychosocial, developmental, and rehabilitative needs. The team will identify interventions and treatments which can positively affect your child’s development and outcomes and will assist with any needed recommendations, referrals, and or resources to best support you and your child.  Lastly, the team will continue to support you and your child through the first 2 years of life.

Who We Serve

We follow premature infants up to age 2 who have been identified as having increased risk of for developmental delays due to hospitalization. Any NICU graduate is eligible to receive a developmental screening from our team of medical professionals.

For Health Professionals

This interdisciplinary clinic will include a developmental assessment by psychology, using the BBDS screening test, developed at University of Maryland and validated for preemies to gestational age of 25 weeks.  Additional developmental testing, such as the Bayley will be provided as needed the same day or by appointment.  The babies will also have a motor evaluation (PT and OT), speech, and oral motor evaluations.  Finally, a medical evaluation by one of our primary care pediatricians will be done.
