Outpatient Nutrition Services

Our team of highly skilled pediatric dietitians evaluate and treat children with a variety of diagnoses in the outpatient setting as part of an interdisciplinary team. Staff will determine the best program for your child based on diagnosis. Nutrition services are offered to children ranging from infancy through adolescence.

Some of these programs/clinics your child may be referred to include:

Your visit will consist of a session with a registered dietitian during your clinic visit with the team. The dietitian will evaluate your child's nutritional status based on their medical history, body measurements, lab data and eating habits. With input provided by your child and your family, goals are set for improved health. Follow-up sessions are strongly encouraged to monitor the progress of goals and re-evaluate nutrition status as the child grows.

Inpatient Nutrition Services

Pediatric dietitians play an important role in your child's care during their stay at Mt. Washington. The dietitians work closely with the medical team, nurses and therapists to assess nutrition needs, evaluate intake/growth, and provide recommendations for optimal nutrition care. They also provide education on special diets or feeding plans.

In addition to the pediatric dietitians our Nutrition Assistants are involved in your child's care. They collect milk from lactating parents and are trained in safely storing and preparing human milk and formula. Our Nutrition Assistants use state-of-the-art Timeless® technology to receive, prepare and deliver feeds to your child. This software helps keep your child safe with a barcode scanning system and an automated recipe calculator to prevent feeding errors. Timeless also allows lactating parents to track milk volumes by sending alerts if stored supply is running low. Prior to discharge, Nutrition Assistants will meet with you to review how to safely prepare formula or human milk for your child at home.
