Wounds and Burns
Children with burns or wounds are a highly specialized group that require care from a specialized, pediatric team who can treat and assess their needs. This team addresses the child's current skin integrity, equipment needs, wound care, psychological needs, mobility and transitional issues to community and school.
The goal of management of minor burns is to:
- Minimize pain, the risk of infection and cosmetic deformity
- Achieve wound healing in a timely fashion
- Preserve physical function
