Splinting and Casting
A splint is a removable orthopedic device used for immobilization, or to support any part of the body. It may be rigid or flexible. It is made of materials such as low density plastics, plaster fiberglass or polyester casting tapes, neoprene, Velcro, etc.

The purposes of splinting and/or casting include:
- Increase or maintain joint range of motion
- Manage pain
- Maximize mobility
- Prevent the recurrence of a deformity
- Protect joints
- Increase or regain activities of daily living function
