Many children who have had excessive weight gain may have other health or developmental issues. We often work with children who have other medical issues including:
- Metabolic issues (such as thyroid issues, or blood sugar issues like pre-diabetes or other endocrine issues)
- Gastrointestinal issues (such as fatty liver, constipation or vitamin or mineral deficiencies)
- Joint pain or orthopedic issues (such as Blount's disease, slipped capital femoral epiphysis)
- Sleep issues like obstructive sleep apnea
- Developmental delay
- Prader Willi Syndrome
- Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome or Cerebral Palsy
